Pacsafe, Travel Safe

I was recently talking to a friend whose daughter is soon heading off for a trip to Europe. She and a couple of friends bought Eurail Passes, and are looking forward to knocking around Europe for two months, living the backpacker's dream staying in hostels and sleeping on the train.Needless to say, my friend is worried. There's no end to the bad scenarios a parent's brain can come up with, but she is determined to not stand in her daughter's way - she understands how important this is - and just support her and help her plan smartly. I respect that.It has been, ahem, a few years since I did my Eurobum backpacking trip but I remember a few things that I thought might help. Having had my passport stolen, not once, but twice in a 5 month period, my first bit of wisdom is to secure your belongings. The first passport swiping was mostly my own stupidity. I had just slipped my passport into my back pocket after crossing the border going into France, and forgot about it. When I thought of it later that evening after a full day of cruising around Paris, it was gone.Lesson number one - get a travel wallet for all your important documents.Lesson learned, I spent the next four months in travel bliss, travel wallet secure around my neck. Then came Amsterdam. Stuffed on a tram, feeling very sardine-like, I was relieved to spill off at my stop near the Van Gogh Museum. After a couple of deep breaths of fresh air, I reached down to my wallet, only to discover it wasn't there. Gasp! Someone had snipped the thin strap, and I didn't even feel it.Lesson number two - get a GOOD travel wallet. It was a hard way to learn, but I do not underestimate the value of quality travel accessories now. I recommended that my friend invest in a Pacsafe travel wallet and daypack for her daughter. I like the Pacsafe brand because they reinforce their bags and straps with steel wire, making them slashproof. The Pacsafe wallet is available either as a neck pouch, or a waist wallet, and both hide underneath your clothes. As I mentioned, the straps are reinforced with stainless steel wire, and the bags themselves have a moisture-proof liner. Pacsafe daypacks are equally well designed, and created with multiple anti-theft design details. For starters, they have the metal wire reinforced straps, as well as a high-tensile steel mesh wrapping the front panel - no slashing this bag. Tamper-proof zippers round out the security measures.Nothing can insure a completely trouble-free trip, but my friend is grateful for every little bit of peace of mind she can muster. Doing a little bit to fend off unnecessary trouble when you travel can go a long way
